It’s hard to believe but the NE FIVE CLIP FEVER contest deadline is this Monday, August 31st. As you’d expect, entries have started flocking into our email (NorthernEmbassy@gmail.com), so this is just a reminder that you have four more days to send your entries in. Our sponsors ( Atlantis, Business, Federal, MacNeil, Etnies, BMX Gallery 4130, WETHEPEOPLE, Repset, Eclat, Merritt, Yo Sick, The Make and BMXFU) all hooked it up so hard that there’s a ton of prize packs up for grabs, tone of dudes will be stoked very soon!

Here’s one of the recent submissions we have just received from the maritime transplant, Matt Comeau. Filmed by Andrew Philips, Matt put in work for these 5 clips. Also, in case you’d forgotten about his 3rd place part from last year’s hidden gems contest, click here. Stoked to present the rest of the entries and announce the winners shortly!

Ryan Hiebert dug up some vintage footage of himself, Mat Ridgeway and Nik Lindstrom. This appears to be the last of the footage from the Vancouver based BMX house. Good friends, good vibes, Great watch!

“Proud to present the project that me and Ky have been working on since around this time last year. Ky kill’s it in whenever he’s on his bike, whether there’s a camera pointed at him or not. He also played a big role in editing this one and made sure everything was the way he wanted it down to the finest detail. I hope that you’re all stoked on this as much as we are.” Derek Morgan

If your time is so valuable that you can only watch one edit today, this week or perhaps this month, this will be the one to watch. Atlantis hit Victoria for 2.5 days and really delivered the goods.

When BMXFU’s DIY bridge spot was shut down, it didn’t take long for them to begin working on Knife Spot. There’s something awesome about a DIY spot that’s hard to put to words. Chris Cadot puts knife spot in pictures while Greg Henry and Kenny Oliver give their opinions on the matter. What makes a DIY spot better then a skatepark?

  • "Hard question because at the end of the day they are the same thing. A place made to ride skateboards and BMX. That being said, anyone who has spent time at both kinds of places knows there is something special about a good DIY spot. DIY's are true labor of passion. A good DIY spot is a symbol of blood, sweat and money donated by passionate people. More so then anything a good DIY is a symbol of a community. A community of like minded, passionate individuals with a common goal." - Greg Henry
  • "For myself a DIY spot isn't really more special to me than a skatepark. The special thing to me is the time I get to spend riding with my friends. I've always been in to all aspects of building; so I would have to say that is my favourite part about having a DIY spot. I get just as much out of building the spot as I do riding it." - Kenny Oliver

A little late, but better late than never. With nearly 3 weeks left of this contest here are some of the 5 clip edits we’ve received so far! If you haven’t filmed yours yet, there’s still lots of time so get to it! If you’re putting the final touches on your edits, remember the deadline is August 31st.

Huge shout out to Atlantis, Etnies, BMX Gallery 4130, Repset, Eclat, Yo Sick, Federal, MacNeil, WETHEPEOPLE, Merritt, The Make, BMXFU and Business bmx for hooking up killer prize packs. There’s legit so much stuff to give a way you’d be crazy not to film one of these!!

Here’s Chase Davidson’s entry which is undoubtedly one of the most creative so far and read on for a bunch more rad entries.

“Living in a mountain village directly in the French Alps definitely limits the spots available and also the amount of riders. Unfortunately, there are no other riders within the area which resulted in getting creative with what I have. I put this together myself using a Soloshot and tripod, all the while having to avoid the crazy mountain weather and heavy work schedule. This was by far the most fun I’ve had making an edit, and couldn’t be happier with the outcome!” Chase Davidson
