In April, 2010 we posted this editorial on Montreal, and the overall province of Quebec behind years behind all other Canadian provinces skatepark wise. Since then, alot has changed and steps have been made in many areas of the province to have much better parks than in the past. However, Montreal remains problematic with no real outdoor parks. Ask remaining riders of Montreal what the scene is like today and they will say it’s not nearly as big as it should be/ that it is lacking parks in the city.
We are by no means a skateboard site but we are fans of growing scenes and good film work. Dire Skate is an awesome documentary by Dan Mathieu which touches upon the skatepark problems in Montreal, corruption in the city, the moving of the infamous Big-O and more. Click here and give it a watch.
Joel Fortin has been killing it this past year and here’s the cherry on the cake. Joel’s been putting in work since the snow melted this past spring, hit play now.
The Cribs dudes are best kind! Every year they take a trip or two and went with Ontario for the latest trip. “Every first week of September the bmx cribs crew hits the road to burn some tires onto a road trip. This years we visit ontatio and pass by gatineau ottawa toronto and st-catherine and then we meet somes bmx fu guys.”
Last but not least, Matt Comeau never ceases to amaze. Always tech/creative with a mix of burly as well, Matt shreds the streets of Moncton, NB, filmed by Andrew Phillips.
Matt has won the WTP prize pack which includes the WTP Patron frame in Titan Black, WTP Switch bars and more (along with some goodies from Etnies). Huge thans to WTP for sponsoring the contest and supporting Canadian BMX!
Mat Stiehl is a name to remember. His entry flew into this contest under the radar but quickly proved to be up there with the best! All street clips, a good variety of stuff, Matt killed it.
Matt won the MacNeil Prize pack which Macneil were gracious enough to hook up a Truth complete bike, click here for full specs. Huge thanks to MacNeil for sponsoring the contest and Canadian BMX!
