In July, eight of us took a trip to explore the open skies and amazing concrete parks of Montana. It was a trip I’d been wanting to make for years, and I was fortunate to share it with some of the best riders in Canada. Legendary Alaskan David Clay also jumped on the trip three days before it started (“I just bought some guns, but I think I can drop $500 on a plane ticket”). We came home with a ton of content and decided to put together a micro-site dedicated to our adventure. We hope to give you a sense of the people we met and places we visited along the way.

We’ll be releasing the site in four parts on Sundays and Wednesdays over the next two weeks. It will have a permanent home here. First up is a gallery of photos from Mat Ridgeway’s disposable camera, along with some of the stories that accompany them.

Earlier in the year there were rumblings in Ottawa of a possible trip to Barcelona. Barcelona is obviously known as THE destination for an endless array of unbelievable spots and beautiful beaches, things that don’t immediately come to mind when you think of Ottawa. A few people had tentatively agreed, and as the summer crept closer, plans seemed to solidify, the fever swept the city, and the crew grew larger. Before long, it had ballooned in to a ten man Spanish holiday. Riders included Rich Redmond, Chris Chitaroni, (Crazy Fucking) Steve Moreau, Nick Stupich, Chris Bryan, Jay Leroux, Kyle Lafleur and Joe Delongchamp (Ace) from Sudbury, and ex-Ottawa residents Jeff Bedard and Marc Boudreau.

Rich Redmond sent me a variety of riding, partying, and tourist photos from the trip, and a point form account of his impression of Barcelona. Click below to check it all out.

Will Fisher with a tuck no-hander during an Austin winter.

Let me start by saying that Canadian winters can be cold and long. If you are a fellow canuck like myself, you already know this. If not, well…rain, sleet, snow, freezing temperatures all they way in to April…. you get the idea! Needless to say we all look for a getaway. If you are reading this I’m 99.9 % sure you are already familiar with Austin, Texas. If for some reason you are not, read on and I will be happy to show you the light.

For 2011 we are starting a Road trip feature, most bmxers have been on a road trip at some point or other and if you haven’t, you should definitely start planing one asap. In my opinion, road trips with buddies are a huge part of bmx and are almost always a guaranteed good time. We encourage anyone who’s doing a road trip this year to take some pictures, film a little edit and/or write a few words about the trip and send it in to Northernembassy@gmail.com .

The first of our Road trip starts in Trois Rivieres, Quebec. Jo Boutch, Simon Dravigne and Simon Trepanier packed up and hit the road for Florida this January. Here’s a bunch of pictures from their trip and some words from Simon.
