Prasheel Gopal Tag

CNV000036

I don’t shoot flatland photos very often, but when I do it’s usually with my (twin) brother Prasheel. Doing so affords me the chance to ask for certain tricks or positions and a lot of repetition to get the shot I want, which comes with our familiarity and something I wouldn’t usually ask other riders to do. This photo ran in Union Press Issue 4, which is out everywhere in Canada now, or order a copy here.

I might be a little bit biased because he is my twin brother, today is his birthday, and he’s wearing one of our Coast to Coast t shirts in this photo, but just this past weekend Prasheel Gopal placed 1st in the Expert category of the King of Southsea flatland contest in England, and then went on to place 4th in his pro contest debut. He was the only Canadian in attendance at the UK contest, which is now in its third year. Here he is enjoying his win with a drink out of his trophy. Congrats.

Most people would question why a flatlander would travel to different spots. Aren’t all parking lots the same? Not really, nor is the scene beyond the parking lot. Back in October, Prasheel Gopal traveled from Ottawa to Paris to ride with Matthias Dandois and enter the Urban Vibrations contest in Pessac. After a respectable third place in the master class, he returned to Canadian soil and sent me these camera phone photos. Click below to check them out.
