Patrick Krzyzanowski Tag

I am by no means a talented filmer or editor, but I do pull out my point and shoot camera (or in most cases my phone) from time to time to record. I collected a bunch of random stuff I had filmed between January 2012 and January 2013 and put together this short video.

In the last year I visited both ends of the country to stay with friends and made plenty of new ones, as well as had numerous friends come and stay with me in Toronto. At times I may jokingly call myself an old man and complain about my aches and pains, but when I look at my life and the people I surround myself with I cannot help but feel young and invigorated. This video is full of those people and places, as well as a few cute animals.

Back in May we posted about out friends Patrick and Leland cycling across Canada. Shortly after, Jason Vawter sent us this photo he shot when he spotted the pair stopping in Hedley, BC for a water refill. He had noticed Leland’s Embassy hat attached to his panniers and remembered our original post about their trip. By now they have made their way clear across central Canada, and even stopped in Winnipeg and borrowed bikes from our web tech Cory Beal to do a little bit of BMX riding for a change. They should be on schedule to head in to northern Ontario, so keep your eyes out if you live in the eastern half of the country as you might spot them. Make sure you follow both Pat and Leland on their blogs.

My two favourite kooks have left this morning for pretty much the ultimate Canadian adventure. Leland Nightingale and Patrick Krzyzanowski are riding their bikes (not their BMX bikes mind you, but their touring bikes) across Canada from Tofino, BC to St. John’s, NL. They will be spending the next 2.5 to 3 months traveling by bike throughout the Canadian wilderness, camping and sleeping in hammocks. They have both been staples of the Toronto BMX scene for a long time, and watching them prepare for a trip of this proportion has been inspiring to say the least. You can follow their adventures on Leland’s blog Had To Move or on Instagram. If you run across this pair on their journey, feel free to offer them a couch or a warm shower.

Patrick Krzyzanowski (who we did a studio tour with before) is one of those people that works really hard at something, can abstain from it for a long period of time, and still retain everything he learned. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I can get him out to ride, but when he does, he hasn’t lost anything. We spent the weekend in the small town of Campbellford, ON, rode their minimal yet fun skatepark, and Pat was able to film a few tricks in no time. Check out this quick 5 trick edit with him (plus a bonus clip), with guests clips from Leland Nightingale and myself (Prashant), filmed on a shaky iPhone.
