A few of us were fortunate enough to see some of this madness in person! When Corey Martinez, Chris Childs, Matt Nordstrom and Dillon Lloyd session together for a few days, in an incredible city for spots (with Justin Hughes spot guiding), you get a banger edit. Highlights include Corey Martinez’ uprail to launch and hanger nose at the big o, pretty sure no one ever imagined that possible, Chris Childs gaping to hanger (and ice) which had never been done and his ridiculously huge wallride, Dill’s truck and uprail stuntery, essentially it’s 3:34 of highlights.

There’s been a ton of hype around the fact the island of Montreal will FINALLY have a decent outdoor skatepark. In typical fashion, it has just finished construction (slightly delayed from the later summer anticipated finish), which is perfect timing for winter to hit. Nonetheless it looks amazing and will hopefully help the inner MTL scene.

Vincent Guay with gives us a quick run through of the new park on a busy opening weekend.

In April, 2010 we posted this editorial on Montreal, and the overall province of Quebec behind years behind all other Canadian provinces skatepark wise. Since then, alot has changed and steps have been made in many areas of the province to have much better parks than in the past. However, Montreal remains problematic with no real outdoor parks. Ask remaining riders of Montreal what the scene is like today and they will say it’s not nearly as big as it should be/ that it is lacking parks in the city.

We are by no means a skateboard site but we are fans of growing scenes and good film work. Dire Skate is an awesome documentary by Dan Mathieu which touches upon the skatepark problems in Montreal, corruption in the city, the moving of the infamous Big-O and more. Click here and give it a watch.

The awesome dudes at 514 in Montreal are hosting an amazing contest series called The King of Taz. Inspired by the awesome King of Quebec series from many moons ago, the contest has three dates, of which there will be a jam/ contest in different parts of the Taz. On the third and last date, the King of Taz will be crowned. This is a rad event promoting riders to ride everything but Liam at 514 also stressed that “you can compete in all or just 1 of the events. Of course the best chance anyone has a being crowned the King of Taz would be by riding in all three events but the park is open to riders also, the contest is just for those interested in competing.” This sounds like the best of both worlds, prizes at all three events, if your anywhere near Montreal make it out to this event!

When Ian Fleming suggested this edit for TBT I was super stoked. It’s been a bit since we’ve seen some Greg Flag footage and if there’s anything this world could use more of it’s Greg footage.

Greg is the kind of guy who can film a video part in a few days. In fact, the first time I ever met Greg we filmed a clip of the craziest thing I’d ever seen done at the Montreal Olympic stadium, at that time. Greg moved to Montreal from Halifax somewhere around 2007.

A few interesting facts about this part, we filmed this Presence dvd over the course of a year and made trips from Montreal to Toronto, Boston, NYC, Philly, Burlington, Quebec city, and more. Greg was really into David Bowie at the time. The Montreal scene was really tight at this time but Greg and Corey Dewey were really pushing each other riding wise and it was amazing to see. Every spot they’d have ideas for each other and you’d often hear them say “I’ll try this if you try this” which almost always lead to them rolling away from something crazy.

The very last Presence DVD will be filmed over the course of 2015, stay tuned.

Good times two weekends ago at the Montreal #WTPRideEverythingCanada Jam. Dillon Lloyd brought out his rails and ledges and everyone shredded the wallride school all day. Edit by Camilo Lapointe-Nascimento and Vlad Poloukhine
