In July, 15 of us packed a bunch of cars up and took a trip deep into Oregon. We take a trip like this every year and make a point to go somewhere new each time. The trip featured veterans like Alaskan wildman David Clay and newcomers like Dave Butler and Caleb Ruecker (along with many names that you’ll recognize from this site over the years). We bombed hills, roasted magnesium in the campfire, hung out on the dunes, waited on the side of the highway with a broken down minivan and rode some of the weirdest and wildest skateparks the Northwest has to offer.

We’ve got a good amount of content coming from this trip, and up first is a gallery shot by Jason Vawter. Jason shot so many great photos that we’ve left them in a gallery on Flickr for easy viewing. Check the gallery out HERE.

Many years ago, when asked about his crew of Kelowna locals, Mat Ridgeway described his scene and the website that documented it (BK!) as “our Sandlot”. An apt description, as they’ve been a group of guys who really encompass the spirit in that movie. To kick off the summer, we filled this past weekend with both BMX and baseball. Another gem from Braeden.

“CLICK 720p. Its hard to carbon date dust. Emptied my old camera and put this together while my leg is broken. Good friends all around. Some of this has already been in the heavy hitter videos but I don’t think they would mind seeing alternate angles. Ride a BMX.

Back in May we posted about out friends Patrick and Leland cycling across Canada. Shortly after, Jason Vawter sent us this photo he shot when he spotted the pair stopping in Hedley, BC for a water refill. He had noticed Leland’s Embassy hat attached to his panniers and remembered our original post about their trip. By now they have made their way clear across central Canada, and even stopped in Winnipeg and borrowed bikes from our web tech Cory Beal to do a little bit of BMX riding for a change. They should be on schedule to head in to northern Ontario, so keep your eyes out if you live in the eastern half of the country as you might spot them. Jason Vawter has established himself as the go to BMX photographer in Vancouver. From a Sam Lowe Primo ad, to a 1664 summer road trip, to a flip book of Andy Roode and everything in between, Jason Vawter takes alot of dope pictures. In the city of hunger, there’s never a shortage of dudes out shredding. Jason makes everything and everyone look awesome in his photos.
