In the middle of the city of Toronto, known for its street riding, lays Dufferin Grove Park, or Duff Grove as it is commonly known. Full with a community garden, bone fire pits, and a Thursday evening farmer’s market, it also contains a make shift wooden park that bike riders and skateboarders make the best of. Certain times of the season it may be in total disrepair, and other times it may seem like it is running smoothly. Made of mostly donated ramps (one of which is from us) and rails, the community pitches in where they can to keep this place going.

It’s not a glamorous spot by any means, but it is where you will often find riders looking for a mellow session without having to pedal far, hanging out with their friends without much concern. From locals to riders visiting from out of town that day, it’s our warm up spot, meet up spot, or just where we unwind after a work day. It’s probably the one spot I ride the most all summer long, and some evenings I would pull out my camera from my pocket and try to film a bit of what an average night there is like. Check out this short video of assorted stuff I filmed this past summer with Chijioke Okafo, Trent Barker, Chris Cadot, Greg Henry, Lee Dennis, Brandon Webster, and Chris Silva.

Whenever I see Greg Henry, or while following him on Instagram, he’s taking and sharing photos. Whether holding it down at his bridge spot in St. Catherine’s, ON or on a road trip to somewhere nearby, he’ll have his phone out and capturing something interesting. I thought he would be a perfect fit for our third iPhoneography feature where we ask a rider to share a dozen photos with us that they took in the last six months. Check out Greg’s photos below, and you can follow him on Instagram for more photos at @bmxfu_gh and us at @northernembassy.

I will disclose that I was on this trip and did the bulk of the filming (aim your comments about shakey camera work towards me), but will say that the few days we spent on the road were extremely productive, frustrating, and fun. We were constantly avoiding the rain, spent a day at a shop jam at D-Structure (that video is coming soon), and spent just about an entire day at the hospital after Dillon Lloyd crashed hard on what was the scariest attempt that I have ever witnessed. Despite all of that, our crew of Greg Henry, Chris Silva, and Chijioke Okafo were incredibly motivated to ride just about anything and I had a blast cruising around Montreal again and showing spots in my hometown (Ottawa). We drove, we searched, we rode, we partied, and we swam. Everything that a good trip should have. You can find a few photos from the trip here too.

Greg - curved nun rail
“Greg Henry switch grinding the curved “nun” rail. A few good rail set-ups at this place but you always get bitched at for riding them by a group of nuns. One time one came out and told us she hoped we got hurt to which someone replied “well I hope you go to Hell.” Bet she didn’t sleep easy that night. This photo was shot on some expired film that Mikaël Cardin sent through.” Brad Hill

This is crazy, Almond/Ten Pack hit up Alberta shred up a bunch of amazing spots.

“Our last On The Road tour was spent in Alberta between Calgary and Edmonton with the Almond crew. Ben Hucke, Greg Flag, Greg Henry, Taylor Elvy and Jaumell Campbell clocked a ton of footage at some amazing spots between both cities. We had a blast with all the locals as well, huge shout outs to BMX Gallery in Calgary and Park Cycle in Sherwood Park.”

A while back we hit up a bunch of FU members to get some words ready for the Launch of FU5: Guy Stuff. We asked them to put together a quick paragraph on basically anything about the filming of FU5. The dvd is officially available in Canada now and is likely to get alot of attention real soon, it is by far the best of the FU series. Something that is consistent throughout FU5 and all the FU dvds is that the FU homies have alot of fun riding bikes together. There’s alot of good riding, good times, good filming and good editing in FU5, keep dvds alive and grab a copy, support guystuff all day.
