Vancouver area local Riley McMaster hit me up to let me know that he just finished his new zine No Bummers 2. If you were one of the handful of people to get his first issue, you can know what to expect. If not, Riley describes it as:

48 page, full colour zine based on a cross oceanic trip to the land of the kiwis. With a strict mission of swimming in the ocean and chilling hard, things happened along the way that needed documenting. Learn how to do the most, what a roadtrip guitar goes through, social acceptability of not wearing shoes in public, and much more. Hand numbered edition of 50.

At the core of most scenes is something central that acts as a hub for its riders. It could be a shop, spot, park, or BMX house. In the case of the Niagara Falls area BMXFU contingent, it is the confines of Chris Orbell’s garage, otherwise known as Orb’s Garage. Here Chris seems to work on everyones bikes with a deep supply of tools and paint, ready to fix anything that might come his way, or customize someone’s bike in whatever way imaginable. I was curious to know more about the space, so we contacted Chris to get the scoop. Brad Hill posed some questions to him, snapped some photos of the garage, and gathered some insight from others on what makes Orb’s Garage so great.

Easter is important in Canada for a few reasons. For one, it’s a 4 day weekend, any long weekend is always good. More importantly, it usually marks the start of good weather throughout our country. This spring has been pretty harsh in a good part of Canada, with some parts seeing snow and below zero weather up till now. To everyone in these parts of Canada, hang in there, warm weather and lots of sunshine is real close! From everyone here at Embassy, Happy Easter.

battlefield

Beside the rain, cold weather and 50+ km/h winds, the jam was a blast. Kids, homies and a few guys from out of town came through. The sesh started off at the Niagara Falls skatepark and moved on to a local spot called Battlefield. Sooner then we liked the rain/snow combo got rid of us, the jam slowly moved towards the legendary Orbell’s garage. I was around for most of it to snap a few pictures. I hope you enjoy

Travis Sexsmith, and Kym Grosser are two Vancouver locals who ride for The Set. With dudes like these two, Corey Bohan and Brad Simms, you know their shit is dialed. Kym and Travis have been down under for quite some time now filming and riding during their summer season. The Set goods have recently hit Canada and are now available at 3ride.

Let me start by saying that Canadian winters can be cold and long. If you are a fellow canuck like myself, you already know this. If not, well…rain, sleet, snow, freezing temperatures all they way in to April…. you get the idea! Needless to say we all look for a getaway. If you are reading this I’m 99.9 % sure you are already familiar with Austin, Texas. If for some reason you are not, read on and I will be happy to show you the light.
