Spotted this one this morning, some 16mm footage from the now plowed Chuck Bones trails in Calgary from years back. Featuring Calgary shredders Devon Rohl and Richard Gallant, 16mm bmx footage is rare but always dope, a soapbox production.
“This is Johnny Stewart, riding one of my favourite spots to shoot photos. This is a big kiln full pipe in Winnipeg. Full pipes can get boring pretty quick, but for half an hour it’s fun, and it’s always a good day when you find a new one. The inside of this thing is all asbestos bricks, and it dusts up as you ride. To get in you have you squeeze your bike through one of the holes in the top. The art on this is phenomenal, if you look closely the square hole says “Drive by Facelifts.” The last time I went to ride this thing some homeless dude had moved in.”

I know I know, we’re a bmx web site not a skateboard website but this is actually pretty cool. I remember seeing this edit from Joe Simon 7 months back and wondering if the Heli Cam would become the next phase in bmx (following the Gopro and Glide Cam phases). So far we it hasn’t been the case but the Quintin edit is the most impressive Heli Cam edit I have seen to date. Also be sure to check out Quintin’s dope spring line here if you haven’t already.
If you haven’t ‘liked’ us on Facebook, you should do it now. It’s a great way to keep up with the site while you are creeping on girls’ photos and reading status updates. If you’re not the tech savvy type to follow RSS feeds and all that mumbo jumbo then you’ll easily be able to see when we post new photos, videos, and features to the site right in your regular Facebook news feed.
This is an awesome way to start the week, Mike Fiz’s Audio Pop Off is back!
I won’t bore you with who did what, who qualified where, or any of those details. I barely know them myself. All I know is that Drew Bezanson did some of the most unbelievable wallrides and I met Darryl Nau. Check above for Drew’s barspin to wallride to whip out in the best trick contest and click below for a big ninja drop, and Darryl Nau posing for a photo with me and an old Blacken t-shirt. See you all at next year’s contest.
After running our Embassy X Quintin Winter Contest for over a month and sorting through all of our submissions, we are happy to announce that our winner is Kyle Lafleur from Sudbury, Ontario! Kyle put a lot of time and energy in to his video submission, which includes everything from games of shinny, winter bonfires, cold street riding, a garage ramp, and skateboarding. Kyle’s video is the perfect example of making the best with what you’ve got and enjoying the seasons no matter what. You’ll be receiving your package soon Kyle. Check out Kyle’s video below and click to read what he had to say.
Just a reminder that we still have our Coast To Coast t-shirts available in our webstore. Right now for the month of March you can get free shipping to anywhere in Canada! Grab one before they are all gone, and if you are at the Toronto BMX Jam this weekend, you can get one off of me directly for a special weekend price.
