THE NORTHERN EMBASSY

“Here’s a mix edit made up from 1664 team riders Jordan Dwan, Andrew Schubert, and Isaac Barnes. Jordan’s clips were all filmed on a week stay in Edmonton. Andrew, and Isaac’s clips were shot while Dwan was out, and on weekend trips between Edmonton and Calgary. All while just chillin with friends and having a good time, Enjoy.”

“Hello once again! I usually have some sort of story to tell when it comes to everything, I guess I’m some sort of inner nerd or something. I mean, I’m the type of person who will pick a spot because of the colour of the wall etc. Always thinking everything out, maybe it’s some sort of aesthetic OCD that I’m unaware of. Just like my constant quest to find the holy grail of flannel. My mind is as fucked as getting in to downtown Toronto in rush hour! From hating my tattoos one day, to loving them the next, hating my clips then coming back to realize they are not that bad, I’m always in a constant struggle when it comes to stuff I create or decide to do. I’m elaborating on this, because every time I make these mixes, I end up hating them by the end. Is that a good thing? Some may say it is but it’s pretty damn annoying. This is one of these mixes, I’m not too fond of it anymore but hell, I’ll let you guys judge for yourselves by clicking HERE. Enjoy!”

Our friend Brad Hill (aka Bobby) just released his summer mixtape that he’s been working on. It’s stacked with footage from friends across Canada too long to list, and edited to an appropriately pairing of music from classic oldies to Juicy J. Start your morning off with right with this watch.

In July, eight of us took a trip to explore the open skies and amazing concrete parks of Montana. It was a trip I’d been wanting to make for years, and I was fortunate to share it with some of the best riders in Canada. Legendary Alaskan David Clay also jumped on the trip three days before it started (“I just bought some guns, but I think I can drop $500 on a plane ticket”). We came home with a ton of content and decided to put together a micro-site dedicated to our adventure. We hope to give you a sense of the people we met and places we visited along the way.

We’ll be releasing the site in four parts on Sundays and Wednesdays over the next two weeks. It will have a permanent home here. First up is a gallery of photos from Mat Ridgeway’s disposable camera, along with some of the stories that accompany them.

Andrew Schubert hooked up this dope edit of a trip him and a bunch of buddies took in an RV.

“6 friends, Darcy Peters, Andrew Schubert, Aaron Cheng, Matt Hodgson, Matt Walser, Josh Jean and Guests, Isaac Barnes, Sam Jepson, and James Van De Kamp, pack into a majestic RV and embark on a 10 day roadtrip from Calgary AB, to Vancouver BC and back. Hitting parks and spots along the way, and having a good time every where in between.”

This is what BMX is all about right here!

I think almost everyone reaches some kind of breaking point in their life where they contemplate leaving all that they know behind in search of a simpler life. Of the population that may think this, some people may fantasize about simplifying their life so much as to live out of their van in search of adventures and a stress-free lifestyle. Foster Hunting did just that. After leaving his design job in NYC and packing his belongings in to a van, he set out for the west coast in search of places to surf and camp. The video above shows how easily you can van camp.

He has nothing to do with bikes, but I’m sure the aforementioned video, his photos, and travels are relatable to anyone that has day dreamed about setting off on the road with total freedom. You can follow some of his sites, photos, and projects here:
