Hevil has had many associations over the years – Chris Smith’s artwork, wild party stories, “that guy who KO’d Alex Chalmers”. It’s a name that defines a generation of Vancouver badasses, and their video is one of the most anticipated things we thought we’d never see. The Hevil video that will premiere tomorrow night at the Astoria is a collection of footage from 2004-2008. It includes the guys who most would associate with the original crew, along with some of the predominant Canadian riders of that time. If you’re reading this from Vancouver, you’re probably already going.

Matt Perrin put together this dope edit of himself and friends (Wayne Hartman & Shawn Franz) shredding Winnipeg and surroundings. Matt has an awesome style (almost a mix of David Grant/ Tom White) and takes shit to some bigger street “fire” spots making this edit a real good watch.

“I’ve been filming on and off for roughly the last two years and here is a taste of what I have filmed. My friends and I have filmed in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Minneapolis, St. Catharines. More Videos soon! ENJOY!”
– Matt Perrin

Big thanks to Matt for hooking this up, looking forward to more edits!

In 2009, I took a long road trip with honourary Canadian David Clay. We shot this photo on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, which is the alternate route between Whitehorse and Prince George. It’s one of those roads where you fill up at every gas station because nobody knows where the next one is, or if it’s still in business. This photo reminds me of how awesome that drive was.

Spencer Bryant-Longo put together a collection of leftover clips of himself and some friends in and around Toronto from the summer. Some of the footage might be a little shaky, but it’s a good watch all the way through.

“I don’t want to be in this video. I feel fat right now.”

St. John’s, Newfoundland has a booming BMX scene and population, despite the city’s relatively small size. Much of that can be attributed to Rob Yetman’s shop Turndown. Very few shops offer a huge selection of BMX bikes and parts, as well as being home to an ever changing indoor park. Rob and his crew are in there building ramps, rails, and modifying their setup in order to offer the riders of St. John’s a haven for the long winter months. Jon Fenn sent in this edit from their winter so far, which includes a number of Hiatus/Deadline era riders back riding for the first time in a few years.

There’s no doubt about it, the NHL lockout was a crock of shit. It hurt fans, businesses who sold NHL goods, employees of the NHL and many others way more than it hurt the owners and players. However, there could have easily been no season at all this year and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stoked to see what happens.

There were talks of an Embassy hockey pool last year but it didn’t happen. This year we have a pool setup in the CBC Fantasy pool, sign up here and join the NorthernEmbassy group. The winner at the end of the season will win an Embassy prize pack featuring a bunch of rad shit (including a limited edition Embassy item). The sign up deadline for the CBC Fantasy pool is this coming Saturday at 3pm EST so sign up quick!

Zach Rampen Photo Gallery

Zach is a rad photographer and a rad dude. Jeff Z. hooked him up with a photo gallery on the RideBMX site, the first fully Canadian gallery to be featured on Ride. Check it out here to see a bunch of dope photos (including the photo of Greg Flag above) and to find out more about this part time Embassy contributor.
