Spotted this over at Worlddeece.com , Courtenay, BC hosted a jam on April 26th and Rayden Wickop was on hand to film everything. Looked like a damn good time and lots of dudes were killin it (including Hot Carl on the mic).
It’s almost that time of year folks, summer is almost upon us. While we wait for it to kick in full swing, lets pretend it’s already here. In this shorty we have Andrew Schubert, Zach Rampen, Andy Roode and Ryan Hiebert rolling around Strathcona on a sunny weekday afternoon.
BMX and traveling go hand in hand. Whether it’s a trip to a foreign city in search of new spots, an adventure to a new park you’ve never ridden before, or even a trip overseas to visit a loved one. It’s just one of the many amazing things about BMX. Hopefully Chris Cadot’s recent trip to the UK inspires you to take a trip soon.
“From March 31st – April 17th I managed to make the trip over the pond to visit my girlfriend Sam in Worcester, England. We were able to do a bit of traveling during my stay visiting Wales, Oxford, Ireland and London. Thanks again to my good buddy pally Scott Barker and Allana for letting me crash on their futon for a few days and to me mates for showing me around London. Here’s a few photos from many to recap a bit of my trip to the United Kingdom.”

Matt Perrin recently published his first issue of Scene Zine, a zine dedicated to the BMX scene in and around Winnipeg, MB. It’s a great 32 page, black and white publication with a mix of interviews and photos that gives some insight in to what makes up their community. The Manitoba scene always appears to be a tight knit group, and this zine is evidence of that. Matt covers not only riders living in the core of Winnipeg, but also the surrounding smaller towns such as Morden, Brandon, Komenda, and more. You can find photos and interviews with Ian Peters, Shawn Hildebrandt, Colin Thiessen, Shawn Franz, and the crew behind Da Peg Show. People that know me know that I believe that printed matter matters, and it’s great to see people continue to put time and energy towards making tangible projects like this to share with their friends.

“I came to Van in 99 on March break with a friend to ride skateparks. I met Surrey Steve and hung out with him a bunch on that trip. I moved to Vancouver in th fall of 2002, after I graduated. The friends you make through BMX last more than anything. I never thought that in 2014 I’d be 30 and still riding and out with the same people I rode with at 16. Gotta love bikes.”
