This is an awesome way to start the week, Mike Fiz’s Audio Pop Off is back!

“Sorry for the lack of music people, but my brain has been on hiatus for quite some time. I guess I had some sort of ADD when it came time to get these mixes together. I could never quite come to something I was down with. Anyways, I worked this whole mix around the remixed Charli XCX and Asap Rocky tracks. I was on the subway this week and found that these two tracks needed to be put together in one way or another. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and it really sums up what I’ve been in to lately. I use to be an indie rock purist at heart, but more and more I’ve opened up my musical realm and lately I’ve been mostly listening to old soul and gloomy dreamy tracks and albums form all the sub-genres that bedroom bands are coming up with. Anyways I’ll stop the blah blah talk and let you enjoy this 38 minute gem. If any of you want a track listing track me down on Facebook and I’ll give it to you, just don’t want the internet police to be pissed at this bootleg mix….so here’s the link,  http://www.mediafire.com/?9ncvzpojhd3fmbx. Enjoy!!”

I won’t bore you with who did what, who qualified where, or any of those details. I barely know them myself. All I know is that Drew Bezanson did some of the most unbelievable wallrides and I met Darryl Nau. Check above for Drew’s barspin to wallride to whip out in the best trick contest and click below for a big ninja drop, and Darryl Nau posing for a photo with me and an old Blacken t-shirt. See you all at next year’s contest.

After running our Embassy X Quintin Winter Contest for over a month and sorting through all of our submissions, we are happy to announce that our winner is Kyle Lafleur from Sudbury, Ontario! Kyle put a lot of time and energy in to his video submission, which includes everything from games of shinny, winter bonfires, cold street riding, a garage ramp, and skateboarding. Kyle’s video is the perfect example of making the best with what you’ve got and enjoying the seasons no matter what. You’ll be receiving your package soon Kyle. Check out Kyle’s video below and click to read what he had to say.

Just a reminder that we still have our Coast To Coast t-shirts available in our webstore. Right now for the month of March you can get free shipping to anywhere in Canada! Grab one before they are all gone, and if you are at the Toronto BMX Jam this weekend, you can get one off of me directly for a special weekend price. Check out the photo of Greg Henry stunting in his shirt on a scooter below.

This is the third and final chapter of the Lost Tapes (of 2008) series. If you’ve seen the last two then I shouldn’t have to explain the premise again, but this one features not only the owner of all these tapes, Shawn Henderson aka Ice Cold, but a whole bunch of friends including Matt Desson, Carl Arnett, Andy Roode, Jordan Hango, Jake Honesto, Paul Buchanan(!), and a bunch more. This one was a real treat to watch, and for extra measure click below for a photo of Shawn throwing a one footed table on UBC campus from 2010.

Presence – 2009

Jeremy Deme, who is essentially the pilot of this ship that we call Embassy, is obviously too modest to post his past projects on the site, but he recently uploaded both full length Presence DVDs. These videos, much like the ICC videos we wrote about last week, blurred the line between a crew video and a scene video and really displayed the sense of community amongst a group of riders in Montreal during that time period. Both videos were Quebec centric with standout parts (in both videos) from Corey Dewey and Greg Flag, as well as Justin Kirnan, Dillon Lloyd, Mike Cardin, Albert Krolikowski, Mike Fiz, and a whole lot more, while the later video even featured riders from outside the province such as Luke Santucci, Taylor Elvy, and Isaac Barnes

You can watch the self titled video above (I always thought the riding, filming, editing, and music in Eric Trepanier’s opening part was a perfect combination), and click below to watch the awkwardly titled You Know Time It Is? from 2010.

The 2012 Toronto BMX Jam is quickly approaching. It has longstanding been the biggest BMX event in Canada, and the first major event of the year. I’m aware that some riders may feel that the once momentous event has evolved in to nothing more than a dull roar to signify the end of winter, but I believe that this year’s event may change that. The often rumoured Metro Jam series ramps are reportedly finally being brought out of storage and used on the course, along with brand new wooden ramps being built for the event. You can check out a 360 degree view of the course in the video above.

Along with a mix of professional riders from Reed Stark to Drew Bezanson and Dennis Enarson, this year’s event will also include light hearted events such as a game of B.I.K.E., a footdown contest, and Darryl Nau as the event announcer. To me it sounds like this year’s event is shaping up to be the best one in years. Make sure you make it out to the Toronto BMX Jam from March 2nd – 4th.
