BOTY1

With all the posts about zines this week I couldn’t forget about this one put out by the always busy Toronto based publishers Blood Of The Young. It’s a group zine with a collection of photographs from numerous different photographers based simply on the theme of ‘cycling’, created for a soon-to-be-opening exhibition (I think). BMX photos are mixed nicely alongside images of road cycling, touring, commuters, and more. There’s even a photo of a mountain bike leaner in the mix. There is a large list of different contributors in this, including some BMX names you might recognize such as Riley McMaster, Harley Haskett, Brenden Megannety, and even Edwin Delarosa. You can check out a couple more shots of some of the pages below and pick up a copy of the zine in their store here. While you’re at it, pick up any number of the zines or shirts they’ve published in their shop.

The other week I received the first issue of Cory Beal’s new print based project, Pandect Zine. It’s an 8.5″ X 5.5″, black and white zine that’s packed full of Canadian BMX content. The cross country piece with Jake Montgomery was a real standout, as well as an interview with our very own Jeremy Deme where he talks about his motivations for starting Northern Embassy and waving his Quebec flag for his Montreal pride. You can get the zine for simply the cost of shipping in their online store now.

Chris Silva sent in this short video filmed and edited by Peter Almeida from a session this past weekend in an effort to avoid the rain in Toronto. Chris Silva, Chijioke Okafo, and George Carijutan all get down in this.

“Rainy day, so we decided to meet up and build some ramps out of skids and plywood what was laying around a local covered spot. A hammer and a few nails made for a fun afternoon.”

Riley McMaster premiered his new Chilling Spree edit, zine, and line of shirts over the weekend, and now he has put the video online. Check out his site CHILLING SPREE for photos and more, look for his new zine to be available soon, and watch the video above featuring Jason Teet, Luke Fulgham, Mike Carroll, Jesse Hildebrandt, Thomas Arden, Carl Arnett, Jordan Hango, and Riley McMaster.

If you’re anywhere in Southern Ontario that’s a few hours drive of St. Catherines, you better be at this jam. Greg Henry has organized an all day jam at the St. Catherines skatepark and gotten a ton of sponsors to hook it up for prizes for the best tricks and the hottest mom. Don’t miss this jam. June 2nd, from noon onwards.

This is one for all the readers in Vancouver to make it out to. Riley McMaster is throwing a zine and video premiere at Ride On Bike Shop (19th and Main) tomorrow night (June 1st) at 8:00pm. He’ll be releasing his newest zine, Chilling Spree, and premiering a new mix edit. All the details are below. Make it out and support this event.

Death of a Homeowner. Gnarwhale’s extinction. Chilling Spree prevails.

Finally finished my new 48 page full colour zine, CHILLING SPREE, with tales and photographic evidence of riding/tripping around North America with contributions from Chester Jones, Jordan Hango, Randi Oh, Carl Arnett.

Also going to premiere the new mix edit feature a whole bunch of the homies.

A bunch of new shirt designs will be dropping this night, so many freshly tied and dyed creations coming from my own hands.

BYOB. At the bikeshop.
Like we need another excuse to party at the bikeshop.

Zines and shirts will be on sale. Get peakin’

CAMP HAT 1

We are excited to finally release our new Embassy Camp hat. Inspired by old military uniforms and outdoor gear, the hat features jalapeno coloured cotton twill fabric, a custom red embroidered Northern Embassy leaf patch sewn on to the front, black cotton twill on the underside of the bill, and EMBASSY embroidered over the rear adjustable snap. It shares the same popular shape as our old Anniversary cap we made some time ago, and with time will have a broken-in look that will only get better with age.

These hats are extremely limited to a batch of only 24. Once they are gone, they are gone for good and won’t be made again. They are available for sale in our online store today on Wednesday, May 29th starting at 12:00pm EST (9:00am PST). Check out a couple more photos of the hat below and pick one up in the store while you can.

Dillon had a layover day in Vancouver Saturday May 25th, on his way from Montreal to Hong Kong for the Eclat Kings of Kong trip. He actually did a fair amount of drinking the night before, which lead to a layover/hangover Saturday.

What started out as a rainy day ended up being an awesome day, between finding a bunch of dry spots and riding with some good friends/Canadian legends, we made the best of Dillon’s Vancouver layover/hangover.

Another gem from Braeden.

“CLICK 720p. Its hard to carbon date dust. Emptied my old camera and put this together while my leg is broken. Good friends all around. Some of this has already been in the heavy hitter videos but I don’t think they would mind seeing alternate angles. Ride a BMX.

Riders (in order of appearance): Travis McLelland, Cory Amisano, Andy Roode, Mick Bayzand, Corey Clarke, Taylor Ross, Brent Webb, Cam MacCallum, Ben MacPherson, Carl Arnett, Nick Lindstrom, Chris Smith, Matt Thomas, Ronnie Nickerson, Dylan Cameron, Jordan Hango, Dave Laliberté, Jeff Evans, Mat Ridgeway, Matt Desson, Jason Vawter, Lucas Lundy, Jason Enns, Jeff Kemp, James Chevy1500, Ryan Hiebert.”
