Here is another treat from the ‘burbs! Rhett Cerney has been stacking some clips in and around Poco with Adam Piatek. It’s always a treat to see the lines Adam comes up with at Railside. The true highlight is seeing those PoCo trails poppin off at the end!

My dudes from DEOBMX out in Truro, NS, dropped their official video for Gallery 4130’s second instalment of Ride to Glory, and it looks like they had a blast. They’ve been stacking clips like mad for a full length project so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Check out this promo video for the Real City Spin flatland contest taking place in Montreal at Le Taz on August 30th and 31st. Montreal’s flatland scene has produced some amazing riders that hold their own in the international contest scene in the last number of years, and it’s great to see Jean-William Prevost (Dub) throwing an event like this in his home city and putting a big push on up and coming riders.

This contest will also be the third stop in the Am Flatland Circuit, with categories in novice, veteran, expert, and pro, and they have confirmed riders from Costa Rica, Japan, USA, and France. If flatland is your thing, no matter your skill level, you should be at this event. I think this line from their website summarizes it nicely:

“We are offering a competition to the North Eastern American Flatland scene to stimulate the up and coming riders in setting and achieving their goals by showcasing their tricks at an official Freestyle event.”

“The majority of the team guys have been filming hard for various solo and full length projects, so getting footage for the Transition promo proved to be more difficult that expected. Everyone one the team is super close knit so when filming for this project it was all laid back, good vibes, and good times. That’s what it’s all about really.”

Riders: Jared Chilko, Sean Tiffen, Isaac Barnes, Riley Abramyk, Colton Ponto, Trucker Dan, Richard Harding

The boys over in Moncton, NB, dropped this tight little park mix featuring some crazy good stuff from Alexis Leger, Zachary Stokes, Andrew Phillips, Chad Wright, Jeremy Gallant, Jamey Parker and Hale Murphy. Alexis does an oppo hanger to bar and Zach can slang the bars off and out of anything. Keep an eye out for more from these guys in the future.

Unbeknownst to a lot of people that aren’t from Toronto, there is a small island south of the city appropriately titled Toronto Island. It is the exact opposite of the rest of the city, in that it is quiet, peaceful, full of green space, has (relatively) clean beaches, and not populated with cars. It also has a very small and modest skatepark.

We decided to take a trip over for the afternoon to see what fun we could have with it, soak up some sun, and have a BBQ. Before we got much riding in we found ourselves dodging the rain, hiding under gazebos, and sharing food with other visitors, before we ultimately got to the beach for some sunny skies during a break in the weather.

Check out this short video of our Toronto Island afternoon with riding from Chijioke Okafo, Chris Cadot, Trent Barker, and Scott Barker. Filmed and edited by Chris Cadot.

Here’s a quick one to start your weekend. Ryan Eles, Jeremy Deme, Lee Giroux and myself (Joel Fortin) had a little morning warmup session at the Dufferin Grove skatepark in TO and this is what we came up with. Unfortunately Jeremy hurt his heel and couldn’t get any clips, but he still held it down behind the lens.
