Chris Chitaroni has been making short films, in and out of BMX, for quite some time now. From starting his Landozine video series and publishing a zine under the same name in Sudbury, ON for years, to putting out web content from travels all over, to now living in Ottawa and editing for the CBC, he is no stranger to changing camera technology. A someone who always has a range of equipment in his camera bag, and not afraid to share his opinions on anything, I asked him to share the contents of his bag and some questions about shifting from independent pieces of equipment for video and photos to one camera. This has spread throughout the interweb this morning, and we thought it wouldn’t hurt to post it up here too. Taylor has been slowly getting a lot of coverage, and Jeremy worked hard with him for the past few months to put this Welcome to the Team edit together for Macneil. Check it out, and look for more from Taylor in the future.

Earlier in the year there were rumblings in Ottawa of a possible trip to Barcelona. Barcelona is obviously known as THE destination for an endless array of unbelievable spots and beautiful beaches, things that don’t immediately come to mind when you think of Ottawa. A few people had tentatively agreed, and as the summer crept closer, plans seemed to solidify, the fever swept the city, and the crew grew larger. Before long, it had ballooned in to a ten man Spanish holiday. Riders included Rich Redmond, Chris Chitaroni, (Crazy Fucking) Steve Moreau, Nick Stupich, Chris Bryan, Jay Leroux, Kyle Lafleur and Joe Delongchamp (Ace) from Sudbury, and ex-Ottawa residents Jeff Bedard and Marc Boudreau.

Rich Redmond sent me a variety of riding, partying, and tourist photos from the trip, and a point form account of his impression of Barcelona. Click below to check it all out.

This has been in the works for a little while now, but we were invited to join The Hunt video contest. We quickly asked Dillon Lloyd and then Jeremy got to work filming with him in Vancouver and Montreal for the last while. This is the trailer for his part. Click the 720p option to watch it in better quality. Judging begins soon, and we will be up against some heavy competition. Stay tuned for further information about this contest.

Ben Kaufmann sent in the following video of his riding this summer so far in Kenora and Ottawa. Plenty of bangers and unique front brake tricks. He also sent in another video with Paul Hoerdt showcasing the classic bottle opener method for opening your beer with your wheel for any of you Tommy Texters that are not familiar with it. Check that one after the link.

If you are the filmer for your crew, you tend to tag along on the most adventures and excursions. If someone is doing something notable, chances are that you will be there. So with the increase in duties often comes the increase of wild stories. That could be police encounters, being and filming in sketchy areas, or being the first to witness bangers, wrecks crashes, and more. We thought we would ask a number of noteworthy filmers across Canada of some of their most memorable experiences while out and behind the lens.

Embassy’s own Jeremy Deme starts this feature off with his tale of the Kamloops disaster. Click below to read his story and check back soon for part two.
