Jordan Utley, the creator behind SLC videos Killjoy, That’s It, and S&M’s I Wanna Live, has a very interesting interview over on the French website The Diggest. In a time when people are still debating HD vs. SD and what cameras you SHOULD use in BMX, it’s refreshing to read an interview with someone that throws that all out the window and let’s the type of project dictate the style and type of camera to use (which is sometimes an old VHS camcorder), as well as the importance of music and colour in his films. He says:

I already have music planned for the next Killjoy video and it most likely won’t be out for several years, it’s #1 on the list for me. i also assign the video a color, which is strange, but it makes sense in my head, as far as giving a video a personality or aesthetic. I.E. “Thats It!” was orange. “I Wanna Live” was red. “Killjoy” was black. I want the next video to be silver.

You can read the whole interview here, and check out a vital kit of what gear he does use here.

This video sort of came at us out of nowhere. Kyle Smail has always sent in submissions to the contests we run, and been supportive of the site and products we’ve put out, but he casually sent us a message with a link to James Wright’s ender part to his small local Oshawa/Bowmanville, Ontario DVD he made called Smay Vision 3, and it blew us away. You can check out the whole video here, but this part from James Wright is definitely worth a post on its own. It really starts to get good after the two minute mark, and the last couple tricks are wild. You can contact him through his Vimeo account if you want to try to track down a DVD, and look for a Smay Vision 4, that they are filming for now, in the future.

Chris Chitaroni and a great crew from Ottawa all drove down to North Carolina to visit Canadian expat Roland Labreque, ride bikes and surf. The video came out amazing and aside from the typical hilarious buffoonery you would expect from Jeff Bedard, this video has some great helicopter shots. Who wants to go to the beach?

iPhoneography is a new recurring feature we are starting here, where we ask a rider to share twelve random photos they took on their phone within the last six months. To kick it off we start with Jason Enns, one of Canada’s greatest BMX exports. Jason lives in Norco, CA and has been recovering from a bad knee injury lately, but is always taking photos of the spots, people, and animals around him which make him a great candidate for our first iPhoneography feature. Check out Jason’s photos below, and look for more of these to come in the future.

A few weeks ago I was at what is arguably one of the worst, but my favourite, skate parks in Toronto and it seemed like everyone that is local to there was out riding. Then Brandon Webster and Mike Gray showed up with Justin Browne and the camera came out. Justin Browne put together this solid short edit with Webster, Chijioke Okafo, Chris Silva, and Chris Cadot. You can also check out the video with Chijo we did at the same park here, and look for something we are working on based on Duff Grove later this summer. If you are near the park (Dufferin Street, just south of Bloor) look for a new ramp we will be donating there next week.

Wow. This video is either already, or going to be everywhere, and we are definitely not above posting it on here. This is the sort of video I hope your aunt that forwarded you a Danny Macaskill video, or emailed you the Tim Knoll video last week will watch and want to send you. Drew Bezanson basically jumping over and out of EVERYTHING at Joyride 150. I had heard rumours of some of the stuff he had supposedly done for this video at the park, but that did not prepare me. The speed for some of these gaps, the squeezed drop from the second level, or the insane height of the custom hitching post they built for this is hard to understand. Drew has done it again. Watch this one more than once.
