This was filmed in early November, on a cold Vancouver day. Anyone who knows Jeff Evans knows that he’s the man. On or off the bike, he’s a rad dude to be around. For anyone who hasn’t had the chance to meet Jeff, here’s a glimpse of what a day with this modest Newf is like.

swing season Front

With Christmas and New Year’s right around the corner, what better timing for Mike’s Swing Season Pop Off.

“Remember being a kid and going to all the family reunions? You know, the big reunions that seem to never happen anymore! The ones where both sides of the family would get together. I remember when we would go to my grandparents house on New Year nights. All their brothers and sisters would be there, and back then it was like families of 10-15 (!) with the kids and the grandkids it would end up being some sort of crazy pow wow! 60-70 people in one house, music blasting, people smiling, everyone having have a blast! I remember those days because that was the first time I was exposed to all the classics; Elvis, Jerry lee lewis, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and the list goes on and on. Just like everything that you go through when you’re young, it’s a ‘sponge’ period, like I like to call it, where you absorb everything. The time where without knowing, you are becoming whom you will be later. That period in your life where everything gets registered automatically. Those are the times that come back to haunt you later. As a teen, I was musically closed off to all those classics. I was too occupied in listening to Sick Of It All, and all the other bands on epitaph and Fat Wreck Chords. I remember my uncle pretending to be passed out and playing the Duprees on full blast just too piss us off, that way we would stop listening to NOFX’s ‘I Heard They Suck Live’ tape on loop. We would kind of be into it, but at the same time not really identifying with the music. When I look back on those times I often smile and realize that all those events made it back and look at me now, I’m the one who’s blasting oldies on my turntable at home, pissing off my cats in the process because they don’t seem to enjoy trumpets, or the sax! Those soul/rock/oldie classics have made a crazy uproar lately. Everyone from the vinyl collectors to people editing video parts are using songs that were written over 50 years ago. This is the reason I made this little mix, I’m just going with the flow!
Hope you like it and maybe you’ll discover some new gems, or hear tunes you remember from those family reunions! Blast it on the stereo when you visit your grandparents, maybe you’ll get them to POP OFF! Enjoy!

Not much needs to be said about this besides it was filmed and edited by Austin Odegnal and features a bunch of rad Calgary,AB locals (Kyle Freeman, Richard Gallant, Matt Thomas, Andrew Schubert, John Alden, Darcy Peters, Brad Hannaford, Devon Rohl, Austin Odegnal, and Chay Nelson). It’s rad, press play!

NHL season or not, hockey is in full effect in Canada and this video represents what hockey in our country is all about. Bettman (who earns $8 million a year) and the NHLPA can suck it, there’s much more to hockey in Canada than the NHL.

This is so sick, this is why the Embassy exists! Quinn Nelson is 18 years old and shreds. He lives in Dawson Creek, BC, 3 hours past Past Prince George. I for one am very stoked to see this young shredder kill it in his small town/ home turf. Keep an eye on this shredder and thanks for hooking this up Quinn.

It’s not very often you see a BMXer make a full length feature film. Adam McKay has done exactly that.

“So I have been making films and shooting stuff for about 10 years. Started with a bunch of random videos and BMX vids and slowly morphed into a love for filmmaking. This love brought me out west, where I went to Capilano U for film. It wasn’t all it was cracked up to be so instead of spending a collective $45,000 between the 3 of us involved, we decided just to make a feature film. Initially set to take place entirely on an island on Lake Nippissing, it ended up being shot over 3 weeks in Toronto, Timmins and Monetville. We shot this thing for just over 10k and a lot of hard work. It is our first attempt at anything of this scale and was an incredible learning experience. We hope to do some more in the future.

A small town boy turned big city player is forced to choose between the career of his dreams and the family he has left.
This film was shot over the course of 3 weeks in the summer of 2011. It is one of the first films ever to be both shot and set in Northern, Ontario. With our main shooting locations being, Timmins and Lakair Lodge on the west arm of Lake Nippissing. Despite a fairly large cast and many locations we managed to shoot the film for a little more thank $10,000. Which my Hollywood standards, is damn near impossible. We could not have done this without the love and support of all of our friends, family, cast and crew. Thank you to everyone who made this film a reality. Enjoy.”

“Filmed mainly in Edmonton, and Calgary with a couple BC clips thrown in. There was no real direction while filming for this, just clipping on any regular session with the homies. There are some old clips, and some new that I just thought fit in place. Thanks to John Alden, James Van De Kamp, Richard Gallant, Mike Orita, Jaumell Campbell, Trucker Dan, Colton Ponto, Darcy Peters, Andrew Schubert, Jake Montgomery, Eric Marshall, Cory Beal, Andrew White Jeremy Bischler, Ryan Spracklin, Sam Jepson, Nick Lemont, and Matthew Walser for the good times, and thanks to the Embassy for hosting the edit.”

It hasn’t been easy holding onto this edit all week. So pumped on this! Huge thanks to Isaac for hooking this up. There’s a bunch of rad Canadian riders in this edit mixed with good tunes, good filming, and good editing.
